This poem referring to Ayn Rand was recited by Shoshana Milgram in her course at OCON 2008 — where I noted it down. Unfortunately, I did not take a note who the author is. But I like it.
* * *
she is not bound my mortal sight
the stars are hers by noon
against the melody of night
she stands alone, immune

This poem refers to how Ayn Rand lived her life without exception! It was a very lonely walk (even her closest friends and associates could not “walk the walk”). She had the courage of her convictions and dreams!

I don’t know anything about the background of this poem, as I said. And I am not sure if Ayn Rand really was that lonely. I like to imagine her surrounded by her friends and her husband, on long evenings, discussing philosophy.

i think intellectual excellence is always somehow lonely… either she was a genius OR they liked her… i have the impression that some objectivists actually like it to be different and that it is a part of the whole thing to want a revolution.
